Writing before and after

I am really looking forward to seeing the transition in my writing style as we progress through this program.  I feel that this will be an area that will truly allow for personal reflection as we continue along.  Writing styles are as unique as the people penning (or should I say typing) the papers and hopefully there will be opportunity for me to develop my skills without losing much of my own personal touch.  My main goal in this learning process will be understanding how to effectively write for the reader.  This is a concept that isn’t completely new to me but rather one that I have probably neglected in my previous writings.  I have always thought that if it made sense to me then it probably made sense to others.  While this might have been true on most occasions it probably hasn’t been the most effective strategy.  There is no weapon mightier than the pen and the ability to write for the reader can be an effective tool in all personal, academic and professional endeavors.
